Pandit Deobrat Mishra
How do our teachers play a role in our evolution?
Guru Purnima is a Day of Grace. In India, it is traditionally the day we honor our teachers - both spiritual and academic. It is the full moon day that comes immediately after the summer solstice – an especially auspicious day for our practice, and even more so to spend time with one another in the presence of two renowned Indian musicians.
The event starts with a 60-minute movement and meditation practice led by Diana Hulet, contemporary mystic with profound knowledge and reverence for the philosophical traditions of yoga. She will be accompanied by Pandit Deobrat Mishra, a renowned 11th generation sitar player from Varanasi, India.
From there, we'll transition into a concert with Deobrat and his nephew Prashant, considered to be one of the best tabla players in India. This is a very special, rare treat to have this caliber of musicians joining us on this auspicious day! After an amazing concert, we'll gather around the fire to hear Deobrat, Prashant, and Diana's meaning of the guru.
